9:20 am – For large group and choice time,
Ms. Alvarez uses guidance from her daily plans
within the Teaching Guide to develop a Venn
diagram to help children identify the similarities
and differences between two stories. She
engages children in recalling details of the stories
and classifying similarities and differences.
During choice time, with support from
The Creative Curriculum®, Ms. Alvarez is served up the
content she needs to facilitate children’s discovery in
the interest areas and further extend what they learned
in large group. Her review of her GOLD® assessment
data enables her to offer individualized learning
experiences during free choice time. Instead of taking
time away from instruction to assess each child
individually, she systematically observes the children
as they engage in these child-centered learning
experiences and leverages this opportunity to capture
photos and dictate notes within the mobile app to
help her assess students’ skills, strengths, abilities, and
interests as she engages with children throughout the
classroom. With GOLD®, assessment is an authentic
part of instruction, not a disruption.
